What is IPL/Laser

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. It comes under the same category as Laser and both are similar in that they use light energy to target and destroy the hair follicle. IPL is more advanced and is generally safer. IPL presents less hazards not only to patients but to working therapists like myself. I have been using IPL for the past 20 years and over that period have achieved great success with many happy clients.

Which areas can be treated with IPL/Laser?

Virtually all areas can be treated safely & quickly using this system.  Sensitive facial areas like lip, chin, neck, cheeks and mid brow are suitable as well as larger body areas like underarms, bikini lines, stomach, backs, legs & arms.

Who is suitable for IPL/Laser?

IPL/Laser is suitable for both men & women. The ideal client for this treatment has a pale skin and dark hair. The light is attracted to the melanin of the hair so the darker the hair the more light it will absorb. This is why it is best to treat on untanned skin as the light cannot differentiate between melanin in the skin and melanin in the hair. The system is however very versatile and a consultation is usually required to assess suitability. I need to be informed if you are presently taking any medication. Certain medication although necessary can cause or increase hair growth or may cause photosensitivity to a hair removal session.

Presently I do not treat clients for IPL/Laser who are under the age of 18.

Is there any downtime or recovery needed after IPL/Laser session

Because of the numerous safety features built into Coollights system there is often no downtime needed whatsoever. Clients can resume their normal day to day activities eg go back to work or go shopping. Nobody need know that you have had anything done!!!

Will I see a difference after an IPL/Laser session?

Yes definitely. After a week or so the treated hairs will start to push through and will simply fall away.

Will the hair come back?

As long as there is no underlying hormonal or medical issue the hair will be significantly removed and reduced.
